Rachel Wiltshire has everything she’s ever wanted: a close group of friends, a handsome boyfriend, and acceptance to the journalism program at her top-choice college. But one fateful evening, tragedy tears her world apart.

Five years later, Rachel is still coping with her grief, and can’t stop thinking about the bright future she almost had. But when a sudden fall lands her in the hospital, Rachel wakes to find that her life has completely changed. Now she has her dream job as a writer, and a stylish apartment, but the people she loves most are not the way she remembers them. Unable to trust her own recollections, Rachel tries to piece together what really happened, and not even she can predict the astonishing truth.

It’s true what they say. Variety is the spice of life, and if there is one thing I would love to further integrate into my reading schedule for some much-needed diversity, it’s adult fiction, primarily that of the contemporary genre. So, you can imagine how ecstatic I was when I first learned about Dani Atkins’s forthcoming 2014 release, Then and Always! In the interest of full disclosure, Penguin Canada offered me the opportunity to participate in a blog tour for this release, however I was unable to do so due to previous commitments. But that didn’t stop me from adding it to my to-be-read list immediately! While I’m unfamiliar with Atkin’s previous work, Fractured, I was immediately intrigued by the premise of Then and Always. There are few things I enjoy more than unreliable narrators and I love the idea of the reader being able to learn the truth about Rachel’s convoluted history right alongside her. I can’t wait to see what else this novel has in store!

  1. Ohhh! Piecing together the past is ALWAYS fun! I have not yet heard of this book and am now intrigued – even with it being an adult novel. It sounds a bit like What Alice Forgot or Family Man or something along those lines. I plan on adding this one to the Goodreads list.

Too bad the blog tour didn’t work out, otherwise I’m sure you’d no longer be “waiting”. But then again, sometimes the waiting is the best part. 😉

Hi! I’m Jen! I’m a thirty-something introvert who loves nothing more than the cozy comfort of home and snuggling my two rescue cats, Pepper and Pancakes. I also enjoy running, jigsaw puzzles, baking and everything Disney. Few things bring me more joy than helping a reader find the right book for them!
