Inspired by the recent publication of Eric Smith and Lauren Gibaldi’s exciting short story anthology, Battle of the Bands, I’m thrilled to have partnered with my friends at Candlewick to bring you a list of young adult books perfect for readers who love music!
Whether we’re driving, partying, relaxing, exercising, working hard, or doing nothing at all, music provides the soundtrack to our lives. As Eric and Lauren shared in their moving post on hearing the right song at the right time earlier this month, music has the ability to inspire, empower and transport us, whether it be to the past through nostalgia or with dreams for our future, and the memories we create in those moments can last for a lifetime.
Before I share the rest of the list, I want to take a moment to highlight a few upcoming 2022 releases about music that readers can look forward to next year. It can be difficult for authors to promote their work at the best of times, and has been particularly hard throughout the pandemic, so I wanted to do what I can to make sure these books aren’t overlooked. If you’re excited about any of these forthcoming titles, things like adding the book on Goodreads and/or pre-ordering a copy can be a powerful way of showing support for the author and indicates to the publisher that there’s potential interest in this creator and their future projects.
